What it signals
Rockstar markets in long silences broken by single events, which concentrates attention rather than spreading it across a campaign. The reveal numbers are the clearest evidence that the approach still works at a scale nothing else in the industry reaches.
It also sets up a launch-week problem worth watching: a single-player game with this much simultaneous demand, and no online mode to absorb it.
